What the Red Dwarf cast has to say about a Doctor Who crossover

Raise your hands if you think a crossover between Red Dwarf and Doctor Who—two classic U.K. sci-fi series—would be totally awesome. Well, it turns out some Red Dwarf cast members are all for it.

True, one's a sci-fi sitcom and the other's a more traditional sci-fi series (though it can be argued that Doctor Who's humor can sometimes be sit-com-ish) but why the heck shouldn't these two shows cross over in one way or another?

Craig Charles, who plays Dave Lister on Red Dwarf, told RadioTimes:

"I think it'd be great if, for one scene, we could be beaming somewhere and suddenly we'd be on the Tardis with the Doctor. Then we could shake our heads, say 'nah' and just beam back out again."

Co-star Danny John-Jules, who plays crew member Cat, also agreed with the idea:

"I think Doug Naylor should write in one of the old Doctors. Sylvester McCoy or someone. And then we could have an episode with one of those guys in it. It would be funny."

But what do you guys say? Could a small crossover moment between Red Dwarf and Doctor Who possibly be a marriage made in all of Time and Space? At the least, it sounds like an awesome ''Children in Need'' type of project to us.
