Thanos creator shares casting picks for Marvel's cosmic villain

With big bad Thanos poised to set the Marvel Cinematic Universe on fire in the near future, the comic character's creator has chimed in with his picks for who could play the Mad Titan on the big screen. Spoilers for The Avengers ahead!

Thanos creator Jim Starlin was in attendance at the recent Dragon*Con fest, and had a sit-down with Comic Book Therapy to talk about the use of the character on film, most notably the teaser reveal at the end of The Avengers that sets the character up as a potential baddie in future Marvel flicks.

He is currently in contact with Marvel about potential involvement, but clarified he hasn't worked for them in years—meaning he knows about as much as we do about what's coming down the pike.

But, his dream casting choices, just for the sake of fun?

"I had thought about Idris Elba, who is an English actor I always thought about. He is already appearing as Heimdall. There were rumors going around that Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to be tapped for it, which at first I thought was a bad idea but then I caught him in thenews since his post-cancer treatment and he has Thanos' voice. He has this real gravelly voice and he would probably work well. Couldn't think of anybody else I'd throw out off the top of my head."

Interesting options, and we're definitely curious to see who Marvel will use to bring him to life, be it in Avengers 2 or the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy flick.

Who do you think should play Thanos on the big screen?
