Bilbo marvels at world outside the Shire in epic new Hobbit pic

We know it's been a decade or so since Peter Jackson first started playing around in Middle-earth with Lord of the Rings, but judging by a new pic from his upcoming Hobbit trilogy, he hasn't lost his Tolkien-esque flair.

The latest still to leak out from Jackson's epic return to the world that made him famous shows a young Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) looking up at the sky in wonder, with a gorgeous pool as the backdrop behind him.

The trilogy of films is an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings prequel novel, and also draws from some reference and additional writings to tell a wider story of what's going on in Middle-earth at the time.

If the new pic isn't enough to whet your appetite, hold on a little longer, because a massive new trailer is set to be released tomorrow, Sept. 19.

In addition to Freeman, the film also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elijah Wood, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Evangeline Lilly, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellen and several others.

First installment An Unexpected Journey will be released December 14, 2012; second-part The Desolation of Smaug on December 13, 2013; and final entry There and Back Again will open July 18, 2014.
