USA Today has released a slew of brand new images from Peter Jackson's upcoming The Hobbit trilogy. Wanna know what the coolest part is? We're getting a rather up close and personal look at Doctor Who's Sylvester McCoy's wizard Radagast the Brown.
What's really great about this brand new pic is that it's finally giving us a much better look at the former Seventh Doctor's The Hobbit wizard. Way better than the first pic we got here, in any case.
USA Today reports:
The wizard Radagast the Brown (Sylvester McCoy) is only mentioned in J.R.R. Tolkien's Hobbit book once, but Boyens [The Hobbit (and The Lord of the Rings) co-screenwriter Philippa Boyens] had enough to go on to boost his role in the new movie series, and she feels he's going to become a well-loved character. "He's not at all like Gandalf," Boyens says. "There's a power and danger and sharpness and wits and cunning even about Gandalf that you sense immediately, whereas Radagast is much quieter and gentler. You could mistakenly think he's not even a wizard or that he might not have any powers of his own, and then you discover that he does."
But Radagast is not the only Middle-earth character to have made it into this gallery, since we also have Gandalf the Grey (Sir Ian McKellen), our favorite hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) and the mighty Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage)—plus quite a few others.
Even Gollum (Andy Serkis) took some time away from his preciousss to make an appearance.
Have a look at the gallery below and enjoy a trip to Middle-earth! Then let us know what you guys think about Sylvester McCoy's overall look as Radagast the Brown. Think he has what it takes to become ''a well-loved character?''
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey arrives in thatres on December 14, 2012.
