WTF's happening in 1st promo pic from Raimi's new horror flick?

After cutting his teeth with horror classics like the Evil Dead franchise, Sam Raimi recently proved he still has the chops with the recent creepy tale Drag Me To Hell. Now, judging by a new pic from his latest horror effort The Possession, it looks like he'll definitely be keeping up the insanity.

Based on an allegedly true story of a young girl possessed by an evil spirit after opening a spirit box, the film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick as parents of the possessed young Natasha Calis.

Here's the official plot synopsis:

Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em's behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.
Raimi is producing, with Ole Bornedal directing.

And in case you missed it a while back, here's the teaser trailer, which definitely sets the creepy mood:

The film opens Aug. 31.

What do you think of Raimi's latest horror effort? Will you be watching?
