TV THIS WEEK: True Blood's finale, Face-Off goes Star Wars and more

HBO's True Blood signs off with a big finale, Alphas gets a move, and Face Off launches its third season with a Star Wars-themed premiere.

Also this week, the team faces the birth of an artifact on Warehouse 13, Nick spends some quality time with his scary mom on Grimm, the crew pulls a heist on Futurama, Kari Matchett turns up as a dead therapist on Saving Hope, Ryan and Wilfred give Jenna a career boost on Wilfred, Bo faces a powerful Fae on Lost Girl, locations are explored on the Destinations of Doctor Who special, Charisma Carpenter gets spooked on Syfy's Haunted High, and Roger Corman goes big with Epix's Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader in 3D.

Monday, August 20



Alphas (Syfy) 8 p.m. - "Gaslight"

New time! The team leaps into action when Rachel is kidnapped and it looks like an Alpha is behind the deed. Lauren Holly, Connor Price and Noah Reid guest-star.

Warehouse 13 (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "No Pain, No Gain"

The team delves into the birth of an artifact, and a hockey player's ability to heal is investigated. Meanwhile, thefts plague the warehouse and Claudia spends time with Mrs. Frederic.

Grimm (NBC) 10 p.m. - "The Kiss"

Nick and his badass mom join forces to battle the Mauvais Dentes. Elsewhere, Monroe and Rosalee try to save Juliette, and Hank gets suspicious. James Frain and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio guest-star.

Futurama (Comedy Central) 10 p.m. - "Viva Mars Vegas"

The crew of the Planet Express decides to pull a casino heist in an attempt to recover stolen items from the robot underground.


Haunted Collector (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "Enfield Horror; Masonic Spirits"

The team heads to Kentucky to dig into reported paranormal activity at the Morrison Masonic Lodge. Also, a 200-year-old house with shadow figures, ghostly voices, and ominous apparitions in Enfield, Conn., is investigated.

Saving Hope (NBC) 9 p.m. - "A New Beginning"

Guest star alert! Invasion's Kari Matchett guest-stars as a deceased therapist who theorizes that Charlie has an emotional block that's keeping him from waking up from his coma. Meanwhile, Joel and Kinney take a road trip and Alex treats a fitness buff with a rare condition.

The Destinations of Doctor Who (BBC America) 9 p.m.

This special looks at some of the different locations featured on Doctor Who.


Haunted High (Syfy) 9 p.m.

Buffy's Charisma Carpenter and Machete's Danny Trejo star in this Syfy Saturday Night movie about a group of teens that are trapped in their high school by the vengeful ghost of a former principal. Only the grandson of the ghost holds the key to stopping the killing spree. M.C. Gainey also stars.

Roger Corman's Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader in 3D (Epix) 10 p.m.

This is pure Roger Corman and for the first time ever he's going 3D! The title say it all. When a college coed takes an experimental drug with hopes of becoming more popular and beautiful, she starts living life large ... really large. The film stars stars Jena Sims (The Vampire Diaries), Sean Young (Blade Runner), Treat Williams, and Ted Raimi (Spider-Man), with cameo appearances by Corman himself and director John Landis (An American Werewolf in London). Acclaimed visual effects artist Kevin O'Neill (Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula) directs.

On Bio's Celebrity Ghost Stories (9 p.m.), celebrities Jordan Ladd, Adrienne Barbeau, Kyle Massey and Brett Cullen revisit their paranormal experiences. On the Science Channel's Dark Matters: Twisted but True (10 p.m.), more freaky science is uncovered as the U.S. government experiments on black men with syphilis for 40 years and skiers are found dead with strange injuries. And on Bio's The uneXplained (10 and 10:30 p.m.) double-header, two sisters try to contact their deceased father with the help of a psychic medium, and a mother asks a spirit channeler to help her communicate with her son, who can't speak because of cerebral palsy.




Sunday, Aug. 26



True Blood (HBO) 9 p.m. - "Save Yourself"

Season-five finale! Sookie and the fairies try to stop Russell, while Eric makes a final attempt to save Bill from losing his humanity. Meanwhile, Alcide faces another battle with JD, and Sam and Luna struggle to escape the Authority. So, has this season lit your fire or not?
