The latest Marvel franchise (and perhaps the oddest) to get its own feature film, The Guardians of the Galaxy, has been shrouded in some mystery. That's no surprise. considering the film won't be out until well into 2014. But today, news broke as to what the plot seems to be for the space-age flick.
The logline for the film (which gives us hungry comic fans a fair amount to go on) reads:
"About a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants."
It's been previously stated that this film will take on characters primarily from the '90s reboot. In addition, they'll probably be committing a huge rewrite of Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, whose story existed long before he became part of the GotG.
So Star-Lord will probably be the main character and our human insert so the audience has someone they can identify with. In addition, we're likely looking at the team being rounded out with Drax, Groot, Gamora and Rocket Raccoon.
This is a very tricky proposition because, after all, this sounds an awful lot like DC's Green Lantern film, and we all know how that turned out. Still, the prospect for the Marvel equivalent of Star Wars is exciting.
As for the "something everybody wants," we're guessing it's an Infinity Gem. That means Thanos will almost certainly appear, and maybe, just maybe, Adam Warlock.
That's our guess. What about yours?
