Now here's a dumb idea: Mike Judge's Idiocracy getting a sequel

Though it's gone on to cult status now, Mike Judge's future-set comedy Idiocracy was a huge flop when it opened back in 2006. But thanks to fans finding it on cable and DVD, the time might finally be right for a sequel. Welcome back to the (very, very dumb) world of 2506.

The original film starred Luke Wilson as an underachiever who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up in the future, where he is the smartest man alive.

Though Wilson carries the story, the true highlight of the original was Terry Crews, who played U.S. President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho.

Ever since the first film slumped out of the box office, Crews has held out hope that he could play Camacho again sometime. Now it looks like his faith may have finally paid off.

He told Movieline they've gotten approval to put together some viral content to gauge interest in a sequel, and if the fans are there, a web series or full-fledged film could be next:

"Me and Mike [Judge] are talking right now with Fox about some Camacho stuff. We literally met with Fox a week ago. It's so cool ... We're going to see what it becomes, but we got approval from Fox to do some stuff. We're going to start off on the internet and do some small interstitials with Camacho."
