Matt Smith reveals which Who companion he wants back for the 50th

While we already know current Time Lord Matt Smith would like to have as many former Doctors back for Who's 50th anniversary specials as they can possibly get, he had yet to reveal which former companion he really wants back for the show's big shindig. Until now.

So is it Rose Tyler? Captain Jack? Martha Jones? Donna Noble? *gasp* Mickey Smith? Or a companion that dates back to before the show's revival in 2005?

So did you guys manage a guess?

Well, Matt Smith has revealed that the former companion he wants most back on the BBC sci-fi series for the 50th anniversary is Rose Tyler, played by Billie Piper.

Smith said:

"If I wanted a companion from the past I would say Rose because I am good friends with Billie."

Matt Smith once starred on Billie Piper's racy Doctor Who followup series Secret Diary of a Call Girl back in 2007, way before Matt was cast as the Eleventh Doctor.

The last time we saw Rose Tyler—companion to both the Ninth (Christopher Eccleston) and Tenth (David Tennant) Doctors—she had finally made off with the man of her dreams (well, sorta) as she walked into her parallel world sunset with the Meta-Crisis Tenth Doctor played by Tennant.

A holographic image of her appeared in the TARDIS during the season-six episode ''Let's Kill Hitler.''

So would you like to see Rose Tyler make a proper return to Doctor Who for the show's big 50th?
