Game of Thrones director bringing pirates to Starz

Imagine this: The dark flair of Game of Thrones, combined with the awesomeness of pirates. Sound cool? Well, you're in luck, because it's coming soon to Starz.

Neil Marshall, who directed the awesome "Blackwater" episode of HBO's Game Of Thrones, is lined up to direct Black Sails at the pay cable network, which scored a recent genre hit with Spartacus.

Currently in preproduction, the series is set 20 years before Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island, and will follow famed pirated Captain Flint during his daring adventures.

The eight-episode first season will be executive-produced by Michael Bay (yes, that one). It was created by Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine and is slated to launch in 2014.

What do you think about the idea? Have you been hankering for some pirate drama?
