Fox may give up the rights to Galactus to keep filming Daredevil

Back before Marvel decided to get into the movie-making game themselves, they farmed out different characters to different studios, which is why you probably won't see Spider-Man or the X-Men pop up in the Avengers universe anytime soon. But thanks to a new deal tied to Fox and Daredevil, one of the biggest Marvel Universe baddies could be heading home.

Fox owns the film rights to Daredevil (and the Fantastic Four), but if they don't start filming a potential sequel or reboot of Daredevil by Oct. 10, the rights would revert back to Marvel. Since Fox doesn't want that to happen, and they don't want to rush a crap movie out just to meet the deadline, they're wanting to cut a deal with Marvel. But Marvel wants something in return.

Per Variety, Fox is in talks with Joe Carnahan to put together a "Frank Miller-esque, hardcore 70s thriller" version of Daredevil, and to allow time to make the deal, they might be willing to trade Marvel Universe baddie Galactus and his servant the Silver Surfer to extend the clock.

Marvel has grand plans for their Cinematic Universe, and rumor has it that Galactus could play a large part a few more movies down the line. Getting him back in their stable would be a big win, and if it leads to a better reboot of Daredevil, then we're all winners.

Sadly, the rumored deal would only include Galactus and the Silver Surfer—not the Fantastic Four themselves, who are poised for a reboot with Chronicle mastermind Josh Trank.

All of this is still in the discussion phases, but it could have huge implications for future Marvel flicks. What do you think? Do you want to see the Avengers take on Galactus?
