Thor 2 stuntman may have accidentally revealed sequel's villains

Don't you love it when some poor schmo spills the beans so that the denizens of the Internet can reap the benefit? Well, today's your lucky day, friends, because it looks like the secret's out on who Thor's villains are going to be in The Dark World.

[*Spoilers ahead!*]

A stuntman for the Thor sequel, James Grogan, eked out this detail in an interview recently:

"I had a load of stunt guys in and the director came in and he said 'Look, we want you all to be elves,' and I was like 'What the hell is an elf anyway?' and he said 'I want you all to walk around like these supernatural animals,' honestly it was the most ridiculous thing ever but you just have to not be self-aware and get on with it."

Aside from the obvious "Come on, dude, everyone in the shire knows what an elf is." the other knee-jerk response to this quote is "So Thor's gonna be fighting him some Dark Elves, eh?"

For the uninitiated, Walt Simonson (the man who developed the version of Thor we all know and love) decided that, in addition to the usual Norse gods, he wanted to bring in other legends as well—elves. The title of the sequel lets us know which elves specifically.

If we're right, this means The Dark World will probably revolve around two elves in particular, Algrim the Strong and Malekith the Accursed. Guess which one is good and which one is evil. It's incredibly subtle, we know.

The reason this is exciting is because, in addition to setting up another film where Earth is in peril and Loki is not-so-secretly behind it all, it gives us an opening to at least one cosmic character, the Beyonder.

We're hoping that, and this is pure speculation, Thor is going to act, in part, as lead-in to that Guardians of the Galaxy flick that just got officially announced at SDCC.

What we're saying is, we're excited. How about you? You down for some Dark Elves?
