Starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, the upcoming big-screen remake of The Longer Ranger has gotten a fair share of attention—thanks in large part to the unique detail Depp is taking with his Tonto costume (you know, like the giant dead bird on his head).
Now, thanks to some close-up set footage, we get our first look at Depp's Tonto in action.
If you're unfamiliar with the radio-era premise, here's the official synopsis:
The Lone Ranger is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice--taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
Now, here is Depp in full Tonto glory (minus the dead bird, sadly):
The Lone Ranger is currently filming, leading up to a May 31, 2013, release date.
