Bryan Fuller's mystery Pushing Daisies project may be a musical

While we were thrilled following the news about Bryan Fuller's upcoming (and mysterious) Pushing Daisies project that's not a comic, not a miniseries and not a film, we were still relatively clueless as to how Fuller was going to bring back the beloved fantasy series about a lovable pie maker (Lee Pace) able to bring the dead back to life with a single touch. Until now.

According to TV Line, Bryan Fuller's upcoming Pushing Daisies project may just sing its way to Broadway as a musical.

When asked by Michael Ausiello whether the Pushing Daisies revival was heading to Broadway, Bryan Fuller answered "perhaps."

Then he added:

"We're working on something that is definitely a Pushing Daisies revival, and the idea would be to have as many cast [members] as we can to participate in it."

Bringing the project to Broadway seems a gamble to us, as some Pushing Daisies cast members are currently busy on other projects.

Actor Lee Pace, who starred as Ned the pie maker in particular, seems poised on the cusp of stardom with two mega projects coming up this year: Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 and Peter Jackson's The Hobbit (as Legolas' dad).

Still, the idea has some merit, and Pushing Daisies is definitely a colorful and lyrical world that could translate rather well to Broadway.

What we fear is the appeal: IF the project really goes to Broadway, will people actually go see it? Also, how many people will actually be able to go see it?

It sure wouldn't have the more accessible appeal of a movie or a TV special.

But what do you guys think? Do you believe Pushing Daisies will head to Broadway and find new life as a musical? Is there another medium you think Bryan Fuller may and should exploit? That novel or web series we previously mentioned, perhaps?
