Love it or hate it, now that it's been made official that Peter Jackson's The Hobbit is to become another epic trilogy, the question is—what will the third film be called? We may have multiple possible answers.
Ever since yesterday's news— which received a very mixed bag of responses from you, by the way—that The Hobbit was going to be split into three films instead of two, we've all been wondering what title they would give the third film.
With part one being called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and part two being called The Hobbit: There and Back Again (which already sounded pretty final to us in the first place), we wondered what title would befit a third film.
Fusible did a bit of detective work and found out that a few new domains have been registered by the company that's managing the existing URLs for The Hobbit movies.
Which likely means the third Hobbit film title will be something like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, or The Hobbit: The Riddles in the Dark (or The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark—which, personally, we think sounds a bit better).
According to Fusible, "The Desolation of the Smaug, is the wasted, unpeopled lands around Erebor and Dale, charred and blackened by the burning breath of Smaug the Dragon." And "Riddles in the Dark" is the title of a chapter in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit.
So what do you think? Which title do you believe the third Hobbit film will get?
