Christian Bale can't wait to see what the NEXT Batman movie is like

After three Batman movies, actor Christian Bale may have donned his cowl and cape for the last time as the Caped Crusader in The Dark Knight Rises. But that doesn't mean he's not interested to see what the next guy will do with the famous character. Au contraire!

While we're all pretty excited—and, we admit it, also really bummed out—that the final chapter of Christopher Nolan's Batman Opus is finally on the big screen, Christian Bale, the other guy also responsible for the film's success as Bruce Wayne/Batman, told MTV that he was "immensely" looking forward to see someone else don that cape and cowl.

"I'm very intrigued to see another interpretation of it at this point. There have been many wonderful ones [Batman and Bruce Wayne interpretations]. Adam West did it fantastically, spoofing it. I'm sincere. He really did."

While West's version of Batman was a flashy, psychedelic, comedic sendup of the character, Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale's take on Batman returned it to its much darker origins:

"We return to the dark, which I'm told is what Bob Kane originally intended when he created this. Chris has managed to make it topical. With Bob Kane, it was topical as well. World War II was breaking out."

Since the character has this ability to morph and transform as the property changes hands (as in the case of Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher's Batman films), Bale IS excited to see where the character will be taken next:

"It would be very interesting to see what someone else does with the character. I'd be the first one there to watch."

With that long-awaited Justice League movie finally getting off the ground (thank you, Avengers!), Bale may not have long to wait to see a brand-new take on DC Comics' darkest hero, since Warner Bros. and DC already plan to reboot the franchise in order to make it fit in smoothly with its upcoming Justice League (and also probably Zack Snyder's Man of Steel) world.

What do you guys think?
