Battlestar Galactica fans, rejoice—Ron Moore is coming back to television! What's he up to now? A time-traveling fantasy series that could finally capture that early BSG magic with a dash of Game of Thrones tossed in for good measure.
After false starts with sci-fi pilots Virtuality and 17th Precinct, Moore hopes to bring a cable series based on the popular Outlander fantasy novels to life next.
The books, written by Diana Gabaldon, follow a World War II combat nurse accidentally transported to the Scottish Highlands of 1743, forced to deal with the sexy politics and intrigue of the era. The seven-book series has sold more than 20 million copies, and combined with Moore's clout, you'd have to think this one has a pretty good shot at making it to air.
Deadline reports the project will be shopped to cable networks this week, and with the popularity of fantasy period drama Game of Thrones, it seems like as good a time as any to bring Outlander to life.
What do you think? Would you watch a Moore-led Outlander series?
