Cry wolf in 1st intriguing set pic from Game of Thrones S3

The first intriguing set photo from Game of Thrones' season 3 has emerged—and if that's not exciting enough, we also have some info on the locations (old and new) that'll be used for the next highly anticipated season.

First off, the set pic.

It was taken in the Mourne Mountains earlier this week and seems to point to the fact that filming has indeed begun a week earlier than expected (it was to start on July 9).

It shows some set crew members carrying Bran's (Isaac Hempstead Wright, not seen here in the pic, sadly) wheelbarrow with—on top of it—a stuffed Summer. No worries guys, we doubt the direwolf has met his doom. The stuffed dog is probably used as an eye-level reference point and will later be CGIed over with a real wolf.

That also probably means that the Game of Thrones powers-that-be are starting with some Bran scenes this season—and for those who have been waiting patiently impatiently for the Reeds to show up since last season, it could mean good news: We may get to see them pop up sooner rather than later (and finally know just who are playing the Reed siblings Jojen and Meera). We're expecting some casting news soon. Come on, HBO!

We've also learned that the "old city" section of Dubrovnik will—once again—stand in for King's Landing, and that the Arboretum located in Trsteno, Croatia, will be used as a location for season 3 as well.

The Dubrovnik Times said: "it is not yet known which role the historic arboretum will play. Tresteno is located around 30 kilometres north of Dubrovnik and was founded in the 15th century making it one of the oldest arboretums in Europe."

Adding that: "it is believed that filming will start much later than last year, probably in late September and early October and will last a little shorter than for the second series."

A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin has also confirmed that they will be filming in Morocco, which will stand in for the Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) Slaver's Bay scenes.

So are you guys as excited for Game of Thrones season three as we are?
