Roberto Orci teases Trek 2 details: Klingons, Harry Mudd and more

Star Trek 2 scribe Damon Lindelof may prefer to keep fans in the dark about the upcoming Trek sequel until the movie finally comes out in 2013, but his perpetual colleague and co-writer Roberto Orci appears to enjoy teasing the heck out of us with, well, teasers. Luckily for us, he has struck again!

As some of you may already know, Bob Orci is a huuuuge fan of the TrekMovie message boards, and he often shows up there in order to interact with the fans (and throw most of them into a frenzy of questioning).

Just a couple of days back, Orci decided to answer some fan questions while killing time on an airplane—which sorta ended up resembling a proper Q&A session—and TrekMovie posted the highlights from Orci's little impromptu chat with the fans.

Here they are:

(Maybe) confirmed that Klingons are in the sequel (then sort of backtracked)

Did confirm Klingons (if they appear) will have ridged foreheads (like in 2009 deleted scenes)

[This little pic has been making the rounds on the internet; it clearly shows a Klingon on the monitor behind Star Trek 2 director J.J. Abrams during the MTV Movie Awards]

Title for sequel still being debated

Hopes that first teaser will be "very soon"

No word yet on what's going on for San Diego Comic Con (but will know soon)

Sequel was "harder" to write than the first Trek due to lower expectations for the first one

Animated show still a possibility

"More than a few" hints have already been dropped into ongoing comics

Harry Mudd is NOT the villain in the Star Trek movie -

No comment if Nimoy will appear

Watched all of original Star Trek series and TOS movies to prep for sequel, took away " a better sense of tone and where our heroes are supposed to be like once they mature out of 09"

There you have it. For the full transcript of the questions answered by Orci you can head on over to TrekMovie.

What do you guys think? Disappointed that there will be NO Harry Mudd? And do you believe Klingons will finally be making their appearance in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel (we're not counting the deleted scenes from 2009's Trek movie)? Are you as excited as we are that there are still plans for a new Trek animated series?
