With the were-soap Teen Wolf tearing up the ratings over at MTV, the network has locked up the rights to another blockbuster film franchise for a small-screen adaptation. This time, they're going with a twisty horror thriller. We'll give you a hint: "Hello, Sidney!"
That's right, MTV is adapting Scream, Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven's famed slasher series, as a weekly series, a la Teen Wolf.
Details are pretty scant at the moment, though TV Line reports Former MTV execs Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley are currently looking for a writer to put the pilot together. Still no word yet on whether Williamson and Craven will be involved.
This is definitely a neat idea, and we're very curious to see if the slasher concept can work over an extended episode run without getting too tired.
What do you think? Will the Scream series be able to capture that Teen Wolf magic?
