Edgar Wright wasn't kidding: He already HAS shot Ant-Man scenes

After sitting on the shelf for years, there has been quite a bit of buzz that Edgar Wright's languishing Ant-Man film would finally get rolling this year. Well, Wright wasn't kidding when he said he thought he'd get to shoot some Ant-Man this year—because he already has.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, it seems Wright has recently wrapped filming on an Ant-Man test reel, which will be used to show the studio his idea to make the classic Marvel hero work on the big screen.

Considering the uniqueness of Ant-Man's powers, it only makes sense that the studio would want to see what Wright has in mind before moving ahead full steam. The film will focus on hero Hank Pym, a scientist who develops a way to alter his size and creates a helmet that allows him to control ants.

For non-comic fans, it may sound a little quirky—but Ant-Man was a founding member of the Avengers—and this flick was in development all the way back when Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk ramped up. So it's been a long time coming.

With Comic-Con just a few weeks away, fans are buzzing about the timing in hopes they'll get a sneak peek. Unless that test reel is extremely polished, though, it'd be a risky move for Marvel to show off an unfinished concept clip before production on the actual film has even started. But you never know.

Is Ant-Man among the heroes you've been dying to see on the big screen?
