Check out the first 5 pages of Before Watchmen's Silk Spectre

The first installment of Before Watchmen hit last week with Minutemen, and now we have the first five pages of the second series run, Silk Spectre. So how does it look?

The first few pages definitely look familiar stylistically, seeing as this run sticks to the classic nine-panel grid style, and this issue seems like a close homage to Alan Moore's original Watchmen (hopefully in a good way).

The Silk Spectre series was written by Darwyn Cooke (Catwoman) and drawn by Amanda Conner (Power Girl), and the action picks up with Laurie's childhood and ties in thematically with her arcs in Watchmen.

She still has daddy issues, and it seems Issue 1 digs deeper into what drives her—and not surprisingly, Laurie's childhood does not look to be a very happy one.

In addition to Silk Spectre and Minutemen, series focused on Nite Owl, Rorschach, The Comedian, Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias are also on the way soon.

Check out the first five pages below and let us know what you think.
