It feels like The Avengers can't be stopped. After two weeks in theaters, it's already earned over a billion dollars worldwide. And its popularity is causing a bigger rift between the Marvel and DC fanbases. Specifically, The Avengers vs. The Dark Knight Rises. Even the film's actors are getting in on the action.
TDKR's Matthew Modine has a few choice words for the defenders of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Modine has opened fire on all Avengers lovers. The actor isn't impressed by the film's record-breaking debut. He's representing Team DC until the very end.
Last week, he took some Twitter jabs at Marvel's golden goose. Our favorite being "It would take more than 6 #Marvel characters to take down 1 #DC character." Hmmm, does he have a point?
The actor believes Batman would not only hurt but seriously humiliate Iron Man. And what about the battle of Anne Hathaway's Catwoman and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow? According to him, the feline has the advantage.
He also thinks The Dark Knight Rises is more relatable than The Avengers. And that's what will give it the edge in this comic book competition.
Despite his harsh words, Modine swears it's all in good fun.
Here's an interview with Modine on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live, where he declares Batman's (future) box office supremacy.
At this point, it doesn't matter whose side you're on. We're just happy the comic book genre is getting this much attention!
What do you think of Modine's argument? Is it in good fun or bad taste?
