So how much screen time did each superhero get in The Avengers?

Joss Whedon's superhero masterpiece The Avengers is a huge ensemble movie that has six superheroes puffing their mighty chests at each other a whole lot of the time, one villain who needs a drink by the end of the film, and a badass boss with an eyepatch at the head of loads of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. With all these people on screen, how much time does each Avenger actually get to shine?

Vulture decided to conduct an experiment by using a stopwatch and timing the entire film. They made notes of when the characters were on screen but did not time every second of split footage, instead only timing the scenes the characters were prominent in. (Note: This was for the six main superheroes only. There's no Nick Fury [Samuel L. Jackson] or Loki [Tom Hiddleston] here.)

And they are:

Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner): 12:44

Thor (Chris Hemsworth): 25:52

Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo): 28:03

Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson): 33:35

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.): 37:01

Captain America (Chris Evans): 37:42

And so it's the team's de facto leader—good ol' reliable Cap—who's the one getting the most screen time in the film, followed closely by Robert Downey Jr.'s king of all snarks, Tony Stark.

So those who feared The Avengers would be the Iron Man show—from the look of all the trailers and TV spots we've seen before the movie was released last week, it kinda seemed that way—can heave a sigh of relief.

For much more details, we head over to Vulture.

So what do you guys think of these results? Do you think they're fair?
