CW renewals: Did Supernatural, Vampire Diaries make the cut?

With renewal season upon us, The CW has made its first batch of decisions about which series it will be bringing back next season. So how did Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries fare?

Thankfully for fans, both fantasy series have been renewed, with Supernatural coming back for an eighth year and Vampire Diaries eyeing a fifth season.

The decision wasn't much of a shock, as Vampire Diaries is a consistent performer for the netlet, while they just recently straightened out a showrunner shakeup behind the scenes of Supernatural, which led many to believe the monster-hunting drama would be back.

On Supernatural, producer Sera Gamble stepped down a few weeks ago, opening the door for former showrunner Jeremy Carver (Being Human U.S.) to take back the reins.
