Check out Scarlett Johansson's sexy, man-eating alien invader

Scarlett Johansson has gone from fighting aliens in The Avengers to playing one in Under the Skin. In the latest film from director Jonathan Glazer, the actress stars as a manipulative creature who's more than meets the eye.

Under the Skin is based on the 2000 novel of the same name written by Michael Faber. It centers on an extraterrestrial sent to Earth on a very specific mission. She disguises herself as an attractive woman and uses her feminine wiles to attract her prey—humans.

In the above photo, we get our first official look at Johansson as the alien in question. At first glance, the premise reminds us of 1995's Species, but there's much more to the story. The character's "mission" is what sets this film apart.

Johansson told Variety, "OK, yes I do play an alien who is wearing my own skin. But it's actually not a science-fiction film; it's sort of a film that asks existential questions and much more complex than the logline."

"It's so weird, I've never been in a movie where the logline of the movie, where the plot has been so twisted," she says with a laugh. "It's crazy. 'Are you eating people on the side of the road?' I'm like, 'No, no!'"

Sounds ... interesting.

What do you think of Johansson's alien makeover?
