Celebrate Christopher Lee's 90th with 15 awesome sci-fi moments

Christopher Lee has been in a lot of movies. A lot. Throughout his half-century career, Lee has over 200 roles to his credit, ranging from Dracula to Saruman in Lord of the Rings.

In honor of Lee's 90th birthday Sunday, we've pulled together clips from some of his greatest roles. (I say some because he's acted in over 200 movies, so forgive us if we missed your personal fave.)

Happy birthday, Mr. Lee, and thanks so much for all the awesome movies that have kept us entertained for decades.

Here are 15 of his classic roles.

Saruman, Lord of the Rings trilogy

Lee played the iconic wizard Saruman in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy and went toe to toe with Gandalf.

Dr. Catheter, Gremlins 2

In Gremlins 2, Lee played the head of the research lab where Gizmo was studied. His famous line: "We'll just have to cut you," as he planned to chop Gizmo open.

General Miguel, Captain America 2: Death Too Soon

Lee even had a chance to face off with Cap himself back in 1979, as the baddie in this made-for-TV movie.

Count Dooku, Star Wars

Playing Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequels, Lee was one of the few highlights of the new trilogy.

Dracula, Horror of Dracula

You can make a whole list just of Lee's turns as Dracula over the years, but this one is arguably the best.

Kharis, The Mummy

Over the years, Lee has taken a turn as most, if not all, of the classic movie monsters. His take on the Mummy, from the 1959 film of the same name, is one of the best.

Charles Marlowe, I, Monster

In this 1971 gem, Lee tackled the classic Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story, playing the scientist Charles Marlowe.

Lucifer, Poor Devil

In this 1979 made-for-TV movie, Lee starred alongside Sammy Davis Jr. as Satan himself.

Frankenstein's creature, The Curse of Frankenstein

No list of iconic monsters is complete without Frankenstein's creature, and Lee portrayed the infamous monster in this 1957 classic.

Duc de Richleau, The Devil Rides Out

Though a lot of his career was spent playing iconic baddies, Lee played a bona fide hero in this 1968 horror film.

Lord Summerisle, The Wicker Man

Lee portrayed Lord Summerisle in the original version of this very weird flick.

Fu Manchu, The Face of Fu Manchu

Admittedly, this role isn't overtly sci-fi, but it was one of Lee's most iconic.

Captain La Roche, Pirates of Blood River

Lee played the ruthless pirate leader Captain La Roche in this cheesily awesome 1962 flick.

Francisco Scaramanga, The Man With the Golden Gun

Lee even got to take a turn as a James Bond baddie in The Man With the Golden Gun, playing the assassin Francisco Scaramanga.

Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace

Long before Benedict Cumberbatch brought Holmes into the modern day, Lee played the famed detective in this 1962 classic.
