Apparently, Johnny Depp will be in that Beetlejuice sequel

Since it seems like Tim Burton can't do anything without Johnny Depp, the next chapter in the Beetlejuice story will allegedly feature his frequent collaborator in a key role. But who will the Dark Shadows star play?

When MTV sat down with Burton and Depp to talk about Dark Shadows, the two men—who, after making Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland together, share a weird simpatico sense of humor—started joking about Beetlejuice 2. And in the middle of that came this little exchange:

Are they being serious, that Depp will take over as the head of the new family living in the house haunted by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis' deceased lovers, the role first played by Jeffrey Jones? Or is this just film-junket punchiness?

Time will tell ... a lot of time, since Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter's Seth Grahame-Smith won't turn in the Beetlejuice 2 script until later this year.
