1st look at epic George R.R. Martin-scripted Game of Thrones ep

He may have penned the books the hit series is based on, but author George R.R. Martin has only written one episode of HBO's Game of Thrones up to this point—but now we finally have the first look at his second effort, which promises the epic battle we've all been waiting for.

The episode, dubbed "Blackwater," doesn't air until Sunday, May 27, and will feature arguably the most decisive battle in the War of the Five Kings.

Judging by the first pic released from the penultimate installment, war isn't just coming anymore: It is definitely here.

George R.R. Martin considered the episode such an important part of the show that he scripted it himself, marking his second effort following up the excellent season one episode "The Pointy End."

As for "Blackwater," the only tease we can offer you is what executive producer David Benioff told Entertainment Weekly: "Flaming arrows at night look gorgeous."

Oh, we can't wait.
