Will we ever see Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in an Avengers movie?

We've known for a while now that Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige has big plans to introduce brand-new characters for the inevitable The Avengers sequel. But will the new team members include Scarlet Witch and her speedy brother Quicksilver? We have the answer.

Our colleagues over at Hey U Guys asked Feige about who ultimately owns the big-screen rights to the two mutants who had their origins in the X-Men comics but became Avengers team members.

Although the characters are ultimately Marvel characters, the X-Men movie franchise is owned by 20th Century Fox.

So who can put Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in their films? Apparently, both.

Here's what Kevin Feige said:

"It's a little complicated. If they want to use them in an X-Men movie they could, if we want to use them in an Avengers movie we could."

Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver are the mutant children of Magneto, and they first originally appeared in the X-Men comics as part of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants—thus placing both characters squarely in the X-Men franchise camp.

However, before it was known that they were Magneto's kids, both Scarlet Witch—whose real name is Wanda Maximoff and who had a long-standing romantic relationship with another popular Avengers character, Vision—and Quicksilver (real name Pietro Maximoff) also became members of the Avengers team way back when in the swinging '60s.

Can you say complicated, much? That whole history sure doesn't make things any simpler, now, does it? What do you guys think? Would you rather have Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver be part of the X-Men or Avengers movie franchise?
