Joss Whedon explains how to (unrealistically) bring Firefly back

The cancellation of Joss Whedon's space-cowboy series Firefly remains one of the greatest tragedies in television history, but now Whedon has finally opened up about what it would take for season two to happen. (Sorry, guys—it won't be easy.)

In a Reddit chat promoting everything from his upcoming Avengers flick to Cabin in the Woods, a fan recommended a Kickstarter campaign for a second season of Firefly and asked what we have to do for the show to return.

Whedon, tongue-in-cheek as always, broke it down in four easy steps:

"Step 2: Cancel Castle. Step 3: Cancel Homeland. Step 4: Generally destroy everybody's careers. Step 5: Avoid Step 2," he wrote.

First off, where is step one? Start the fictional Kickstarter campaign, perhaps? Well, whatever—it's Joss, so we'll cut him some slack.

But Whedon is of course referring to the successful careers of almost everyone who was involved in the far-too-short-lived Firefly, with Nathan Fillion (Mal Reynolds) and Morena Baccarin (Inara) holding down major roles in the hit shows he respectively mentioned.

So, sorry guys, it seems the stars (literally) just can't align for more Firefly. Oh well, at least we'll always have Serenity.
