Look who's writing Spider-Man 2 (Hint: they also wrote Star Trek)

Yes, we're still months away from the release of Marc Webb's webslinger reboot, but apparently things like box-office performance and audience response aren't all that important: Sony's plunging ahead with a sequel, and it's spending a fortune on a pair of writers it hopes can deliver.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone have yet to hit a single red carpet for Amazing Spider-Man, but the studio has already hired Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to whip the sequel into shape. The fact that Sony's brought on the writers behind Star Trek, Transformers and Mission: Impossible III—two dudes who can charge a king's ransom—shows that they're serious about keeping the Spidey train moving.

There's already a release date for Amazing Spider-Man 2, May 2, 2014, and the studio wants to start shooting it early next year. So let's quit the Star Trek 2 lollygagging, fellas, and get to typing.
