Which of these 2 women will be the next big-screen Carrie?

Let's put aside, for the moment, the need for another version of Stephen King's first best-seller—a need that King himself isn't sure exists: Director Kimberly Pierce is zeroing in who'll be playing her damaged, vengeful telekinetic.

The character of Carrie White is a plum role for any young actress, and it's no surprise that many of Hollywood's most promising have been considered, including Dakota Fanning (Twilight), Lily Collins (Mirror, Mirror), and Emily Browning (Sucker Punch)—and The Descendants' Shailene Woodley turned down MGM's offer to star.

But the two at the top of the list are Kick-Ass' Chloe Moretz (who ends up at the top of every list like this) and The Haunting of Molly Hartley's Haley Bennett, who's also starring opposite Ryan Gosling in the upcoming Lawless. And for Carrie's domineering mother, Pierce would love either Jodie Foster or Julianne Moore.

And why are there so many women vying for these roles? Because both Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie got Oscar nominations for Brian De Palma's 1976 version. And Oscar has a somewhat intoxicating affect on people.
