Though we all know The Avengers will be led by a modern-day Captain America (Chris Evans), a new trading card promoting the film seems to indicate Joss Whedon's epic Marvel mash-up may also feature a flashback to Cap's days of fighting Nazis.
There has been a veritable marketing bonanza in the buildup to the movie's May 4 release, and a collectible card set courtesy of Upper Deck features one particular scene that does not look like the others.
The card depicts old-costume Cap and his fellow soldiers in a black and white photo that is apparently not from the filming of the World War II-set Captain America—which means The Avengers may give us a peek or two into Steve Rogers' glory days.
It had been rumored in the past that World War II-era Howling Commando Gabe Jones (actor Derek Luke) would pop up in The Avengers after first appearing in the Captain America film, and now it seems like he very well could have a small cameo in a potential flashback scene.
Though unlikely, it's also possible that the promotional company may have used an old still from the solo flick. So who knows?
What do you think? Would you like to see The Avengers take a stroll down Cap's memory lane?
