Check out the new Dark Shadows trailer's hilariously perfect cameo

Dark Shadows debuted a brand-new trailer over the weekend that features a few more snippets of footage with Johnny Depp as centuries-old, pasty-white vamp Barnabas Collins and the luminous Eva Green as his nemesis, the witch Angelique—revealing in its wake a cool cameo from none other than Heavy Metal God Alice Cooper.

Not only is it pretty cool awesome to see Alice Cooper popping up in the new trailer (look at the face on Depp's Barnabas Collins -- priceless), but as an extra, we're even throwing an international version of the trailer (which we think is from Belarus) that has a few more, different scenes in it.

Have a look:

We know a lot of you guys feel that the new Dark Shadows film from Tim Burton and company sullies the memory of the original, '60s dark soap opera series.

Seth Grahame-Smith, the film's screenwriter, has heard the way some of you feel and decided to respond to the rampant and mostly negative criticism that has raged on ever since the release of the first trailer.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Grahame-Smith said:

"The reality of it is I want to please the fans, obviously. We all do. But if we made a movie that was strictly just for the hardcore fans, I worry that it would exclude other people who might not want to then experience Dark Shadows from a complete fresh standpoint. So what we tried to have those elements in the movie that would really pay respect to the original series, to the origin stories, to the characters, their motives, to the idea of this as a real family story, and a gothic story, and something that would make Dan Curtis proud. And yet we wanted to open it up, because we wanted people to not be frightened of it. We want people to come and enjoy it as something completely new."

What do you guys think? Do you agree that a fresh new take on Dark Shadows' dark mythology is what the film needs to succeed today? And what do you think of Alice Cooper making a cameo appearance in the film?
