New Amazing Spider-Man poster gives best look yet at the Lizard

Though we've seen a good bit of promo material for the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man reboot, the studio has kept a pretty tight lid on what they're doing with the film's Big Bad, the Lizard—until now.

Thanks to a promotional poster that has gone on sale via Trends International, we now have our first look at Dr. Curt Connors' (Rhy Ifans) alter ego the Lizard, and it does not disappoint.

The creators have traded in the cartoonish look of the comics for a more realistic (as realistic as a man-lizard can be) design that is actually pretty intimidating. Plus, judging by those claws, he could likely do some real damage if he gets his hands on a certain super-powered high school student.

It's nice to finally get a peek at the scaly version of Connors, and it falls in line with some previous comments made by director Marc Webb a month or so ago about how seriously they were taking the Lizard's look.

"We spent a lot of time thinking about the biology of a lizard, and how his muscles work, and there's an entire staff of people dedicated to making him look lifelike," Webb said. "It is an extraordinary task, and very, very difficult."

The Amazing Spider-Man opens in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3.

What do you think? Are you excited to see this fella in action?
