Visit the set of The Avengers in 6 new behind-the-scenes pics

Marvel studios has released six new behind-the-scenes pics from the set of Joss Whedon's The Avengers, giving us a revealing glimpse of what's going on behind the cameras.

The six new pics show a whole lotta Whedon (who at one point pretends to be Captain America and heroically pauses with Cap's shield) and some of the cast of the upcoming summer hit movie, which includes Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner.

Talking of Renner, we really like that explosive shot of the actor. The man shows he's got the moves as the Earth's Mightiest Heroes' archer Hawkeye, and we don't care what experts say.

In Marvel's The Avengers the world's greatest Super Heroes assemble when Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) join S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to protect the world from the dangerous and powerful villain, Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

The Avengers will assemble in theaters on May 4, 2012, to kick Loki's big bad evil butt. What do you guys think of the pics? Are you excited about the movie?
