DJ Caruso turning NYC upside down in new big-budget sci-fi flick

New York is getting turned upside down—literally—in what Sony hopes will be the next big-budget summer sci-fi movie coming down the pike. Director DJ Caruso (I Am Number Four, Eagle Eye) has signed on to direct Invertigo, which definitely features a unique disaster to threaten the Big Apple. The film will kick off with a NASA satellite crash-landing in Manhattan, creating a "reverse-G vortex" that inverts gravity in the area, which is obviously not a good thing for the city (or, likely, the world). The script is being written by Ehren Kruger (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon) and Bradley Cramp (S1m0ne), so take from that what you will. With all the Transformers cred, it should at least be explode-y. Regardless, the studio seems psyched about the script, so they're wanting to give it a big budget for all the necessary effects work, which could be cool, considering the premise. The movie is set to start production in early 2013. What do you think? Is this concept cool enough to invert your wallet for a $10 movie ticket? (Via Deadline)
