Tomorrow's dystopia looks awesome in 1st official Total Recall teaser

We got a peek at the upcoming Total Recall reboot a little while ago, but now the official teaser for the film has been released online. The snippets of footage are heavy on effects and show off some breathtaking action set pieces—and a sweeping shot of a desolate future city—that should look awesome on the big screen.

Stylistically, the footage looks like a wild mashup of the original Total Recall, Blade Runner and The Fifth Element. Which is to say, is pretty awesome.

The full trailer is set to go live this Sunday. So, yes, this is a trailer for a trailer. But it doesn't make the footage any less awesome.

The film stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston and Jessica Biel. It is, obviously, a remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger classic of the same name, based on the Philip K. Dick sci-fi story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale."

The reboot is set to open theatrically on Aug. 3.
