1st official pic of Doctor Who's new companion (and a TARDIS)

Well! The BBC didn't waste any time in getting the first official pic of the Doctor's (Matt Smith) brand-new and as-yet-still-unnamed companion, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, out there! And here she is, in all her Doctor Who glory, in front of that Big Blue Police Box we all know and love.

When the BBC announced that Coleman had been hand-picked as the new companion for Matt Smith's 11th Doctor two days ago, it created a bit of a surprise! However, most of you guys seem to like the choice of Coleman as the pretty new companion, and we're quite ready to give her a chance.

Here's a short description of the pic:

Jenna-Louise Coleman, who will play The Doctor's new and as yet unnamed companion, in the hit British sci-fi TV series Doctor Who. Coleman will be introduced to audiences for the first time in the show's 2012 Christmas Special following the departure of the current companion Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan, who will leave in episode 5 of the upcoming Series (7).

Matt Smith says of Coleman:

"It's very exciting news. I was part of the audition process where we met a number of wonderful actresses.

"But I think Jenna responded to Steven's writing in the most interesting way. We're very excited to welcome her to the Doctor Who family."

And so are we. What do you think of the new pic?
