Video shows exactly how to fix everything wrong with Phantom Menace

As Spock once reminded us, as a matter of cosmic history, it has always been easier to destroy than to create. And so many of our criticisms of Star Wars: Episode I have been destructive. But one guy decided to do more than point out where it failed: He laid out a roadmap for what the movie Phantom Menace could've, should've been.

By locating the major problem of Episode I—namely, that it doesn't have a main character—and choosing to make The Phantom Menace (and, by extension, the whole prequel trilogy) about Obi-Wan Kenobi rather than Anakin Skywalker, the guys from Belated Media have done what I previously thought to be impossible. With relatively few changes to the film's structure, they've made The Phantom Menace not only interesting on its own terms, but a perfect jumping-off point for the entire saga.

Of course, in the process of streamlining and reconfiguring Episode I, he advocates removing Jar Jar Binks from the proceedings. Because, no matter what our differences might be, there are some things we can all agree on.
