Eric Idle says stories of a Python sci-fi reunion are 'just bollocks'

Remember a few days ago, when we all got a bit excited at the prospect of the surviving members of Monty Python reuniting to make a sci-fi farce called Absolutely Anything? Apparently it's time for a dose of "not so fast."

Director Terry Jones and the producers of Absolutely Anything said that they had John Cleese, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam on board to voice characters in this CG/live-action hybrid ... and that Idle was "in talks" to join the cast.

Idle, however, didn't quite see it that way. As he put it on his blog:

"And by the way these Python reunion rumors are just bollocks. Some greedy bastard producer in Hollywood floating an idea. It's annoying but there seems little we can do about this sort of thing, except to release his name for public abuse, which I am reluctant to do as he is a soccer fan."

Sometimes it can be hard to tell precisely when a comedian is being serious, but it doesn't sound like Idle's joking.
