1st new Spider-Man clip shows off the nerdy side of Peter Parker

Fans curious to get a longer look at Andrew Garfield's take on Spider-Man are in luck—and judging by the first bit of footage, things aren't going to be easy for the new Peter Parker.

Thanks to the viral web site promoting the film, MarkOfTheSpider-Man.com, the first clip from The Amazing Spider-Man has been released.

The 45-second snippet shows Peter Parker trying to get into Gwen Stacy's building, but a condescending doorman is having none of Spidey's nonsense. Obviously, the clip isn't heavy on spoilers, but it does show how Garfield is handling the lovable geek that is Peter Parker. Plus, who doesn't love that big hipster hairdo?

But seriously, Garfield's demeanor seems to set a different tone than the Peter Parker portrayed by Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi's blockbuster trilogy. What do you think?

The Amazing Spider-Man is scheduled for release on July 13, 2012. It stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors, Martin Sheen as Ben Parker and Dennis Leary as George Stacy.
