Rumor of the Day: Bradley Cooper is Man of Steel's Lex Luthor?

Is Zack Snyder hiding something? When it comes to Man of Steel, he may have another casting up his sleeve. Rumor has it that he's planning a top-secret cameo for Superman's greatest power-hungry villain.

According to Cosmic Book News, The Hangover's Bradley Cooper might appear in Snyder's Superman reboot. Apparently the actor's latest film, Paradise Lost, has hit a snag, and production has been put on hold. While he's waiting in the wings, Cooper's rumored to appear in Man of Steel as Superman's archnemesis Lex Luthor.

The site claims that an early script for the film originally featured Luthor in "a prominent role." But his story was eventually scrapped because Snyder wanted to go in another direction. Enter General Zod and all his Kryptonian glory.

For now, we're treating Cooper's casting as a rumor, because no official confirmation has been given. But if it were true, he'd be a daring choice. The actor would follow in the footsteps of Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey, who were much older and balder when they played the part.

Could you accept Bradley Cooper as Lex Luthor?

Man of Steel opens nationwide June 14, 2013.
