POLL: Which of these 10 films should win the Best Visual FX Oscar?

In a blinding stampede of wizards, robot boxers, mutants and magical automatons, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released its list of 10 films still alive for nominations in the Best Visual Effects category at next month's 84th Academy Awards.

Competition was fierce this season, as genre pics were among the highest-grossing movies in 2011, with billion-dollar babies like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. With no obvious favorite, the race is wide open to claim the shining statuette.

According to Academy bylaws, voting members representing the visual effects division are allowed to screen 10-minute clips of the shortlisted films on Thursday, Jan. 19. When the battle smoke clears, the SFX clan will cut the roster in half, nominating five selections for the prestige and honor of Oscar-night consideration.

So which deserve to be the last films standing when the Final Five are chosen live on Tuesday, Jan. 24?

Check out the complete list below of the 10 semi-finalists still in the hunt for the Golden One, and let us know who your winner would be.

The 84th annual Academy Awards ceremony airs Sunday, Feb. 26, from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
