For all our griping about the Americanized remake, it's worth remembering what a titanic piece of art Katsuhiro Otomo's original anime was. And what better way than to pore over each and every storyboard that went into it?

Some of these boards look like mere sketches, while others seem like inked comic-book panels just waiting for color. But all of them convey the sense of motion and scale that would make Akira the sensation it was when it hit eyeballs back in 1988.
