Bryan Singer confirms rumored X-Men First Class sequel details

Producer and director Bryan Singer has let the cat out of the bag. In a recent interview, he confirmed the title of the X-Men First Class sequel and pretty much everything else we already suspected.

While speaking to IGN Movies, Singer was asked about the progress of the First Class followup. He revealed that they're working on the script and will start shooting in a few months. He described the film as "very ambitious." And after hearing its title, we understand why.

Singer explained, "It's called Days of Future Past, and it deals with aspects of that comic, but also some very new things. I don't want to give any of it away. Matthew Vaughn will be directing, and I'm totally excited about it."

Days of Future Past was a story arc from the '80s that was very dreary but very popular. Since First Class was set in the '60s, we assume our heroes will dabble in some time travel. If so, they could mix it up with characters from the previous X-Men movies. It's something Singer sees as a possibility.

"I think there's a strong desire to broaden out the universe," he said. "I mean, the X-Men universe is every bit on its own as big as the Marvel universe. I think it's time to reach out and explore it and perhaps even bring some connectivity between the films, as Marvel has done so well."
