See exciting footage from never-released 2005 Stargate videogame

It may be one of the longest-running franchises in science fiction history, but Stargate SG-1's experience on the videogame front is woefully awful, with two aborted games sitting on the shelf. We may not be able to play it, but some recently leaked gameplay videos from the aborted 2005 first-person shooter Stargate SG-1: The Alliance at least gives us a peek at what we missed.

Past to Present Online somehow got ahold of an unfinished build of the game and has kindly posted some gameplay videos of the alien worlds we'll never get to explore ourselves.

Had it actually been released, Alliance would have been available on the Playstation 2, Xbox and PC.

Oddly enough, Alliance isn't the only Stargate videogame to bite the dust in recent years. A massively multiplayer online game called Stargate Worlds was in development for years but hit the skids when developer Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment went belly up.

Admittedly, the footage from Alliance looks like your typical mid-2000 FPS, but it's still pretty darn cool to be able to wander around some Tok'ra crystal tunnels.

Check out the two gameplay clips below:

Sound off: Would you like to see Stargate finally get the videogame treatment with a big release?
