The CW decides the fate of Green Arrow and Beauty and the Beast

It's the moment we've all been waiting for. For months, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim have been developing a Green Arrow pilot set for The CW. And today, the network has announced its fate.

According to TVLine, The CW has picked up five new pilots for the 2012-2013 fall season. One of them is the dark and gritty adaptation Arrow, which is based on the DC Comics character. The series is expected to fill the superhero void left by the defunct Smallville.

Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance/Black Canary, David Ramsey as John Diggle and Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.

The network also picked up the new Beauty and the Beast reboot. It stars Smallville alum Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan from Terra Nova. The drama centers on a no-nonsense homicide detective named Catherine Chandler (Kreuk). Chandler gets involved with former doctor Vincent Keller (Ryan), who lives in hiding due to a mysterious and beastly condition.

The CW also renewed action-drama Nikita for a third season. Show creator and executive producer Craig Silverstein broke the news via Twitter.
