Kirk and Spock outrun lasers in 1st look at new Star Trek game

A trailer for the new Star Trek videogame, based on J.J. Abrams' rebooted Trek series, has been released—and it looks to be an effects-heavy, action-packed adventure worthy of Kirk and company.

The clip opens with some slow-mo action as digital versions of Capt. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) run from a hailstorm of lasers and cliff-dive to make an epic escape. The remaining few seconds are spliced shots of space battles and ground action.

The story for the game was penned by big-screen Trek writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof and will fit in between the 2009 reboot and the upcoming sequel.

The new game is being developed by Namco Bandai, Digital Extremes, Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot Interactive. It will be available for Xbox 360, Xbox Live, PlayStation 3 and PC.
